This naturally lit home with plenty of windows features hardwoods, spacious secondary bedrooms, a coveted Kennesaw location, and a huge back yard! The master on the main is an additional bonus! We wondered what it’s like to live in such a wonderful home! Here is what our seller had to say:

What do I not love about my yard?! I bought the house because of the huge oak tree in the backyard. I installed a planting garden and also planted wonderful shrubs and flowers that surround the house. The only ANNUAL planting bed is in the front (outside the master closet) bedroom. All the other plants including the knockout roses come back every year! It is wonderful and glorious when the bulbs are in bloom in the spring.

The property behind the house is an ingress and egress easement (with a non-disturbance buffer) for the houses located almost at Due West road, which means that no one will ever be able to build behind the house. The only thing I didn't like was the drainage easement and storm access so I planted 6 evergreens to shield the view. You will never see if unless you go looking for it. We hauled in dirt and put up a retaining wall to mask the drainage easement so it no longer looks like a ditch running through the yard. I love everything about my yard and I find it extremely peaceful! Also, there is a sprinkler system in the front and side yards and it can be set with a timer that is in the garage.

The roof, which was installed in 2010, is a 30-year roof with upgraded felt and architectural shingles that perfectly match the house! I painted the exterior of the home when I moved in January 2008, so there is no “builders grade” paint on the exterior. I regularly clean the gutters every other year and install fresh mulch every year. We built a storage shed for lawn equipment on the far right corner of the property that is the same architectural appearance of the home and same paint colors, so it blends beautifully. It even has a small front porch and matching roof! In addition, I installed 4 inferred security cameras for added security on the outside of the house; all of the cameras record to a DVR.

I have never had a problem with any of the mechanical systems in the home, so there have been no replacements or modifications. However, I have the ac/heating units serviced twice a year. This includes checking all aspects of the unit as well as having the coils cleaned. We change the filters for the HVAC every 3 months because we have pets. Also, there are reflective panels we added in the attic for energy efficiency and temperature control. It is like having spray foam installation without the mess so that the attic can still be a useable space.

When I moved in to this home, I installed window blinds and plantation shutters throughout since there weren’t any in the home when I purchased it. I love the quality of the custom built blinds from Arbor Blinds that were installed. The plantation shutters in the master bath and dining room are great when you want to allow natural light into either space. The living room has no blinds because I l love the openness of the room and the beautiful nature view. I do my devotions and quiet time in this space every morning and I absolutely love how peaceful it is.

Upstairs, the jack and Jill bathroom between two of the secondary bedrooms is a great feature, with three different sections that can each be closed off. There is also a small area outside the 3 upstairs bedrooms for school work, art projects, a sitting area, or whatever your heart desires!

The basement has a hidden secret wall in a cabinet for additional storage and privacy. The custom Oak built-ins in the home office combined with the higher ceiling makes a perfect at-home work environment. Trust me, I know because I worked from home for years. The unfinished area of the basement was purposefully left that way as it would make a great 2nd kitchen, eat in dining and laundry area if you wanted to convert the basement to a totally separate unit or mother-in-law suite. We purposely left the concrete removed in this unfinished space when we added the second full bath on the basement level; it would be very easily to add a counter space with plumbing in this spot. There are also outlets in every closet! You can set up a charging station and keep clutter hidden in the basement bedroom, which is a total score for teenagers! Additionally, The basement has a dedicated workout room with a wall area for a TV and cable connection. All the outlets are set up on different breakers so you can run a fan, heater (for hot yoga), TV, treadmill and never flip the breaker!

You should move to this area for the schools and award-winning Marching band! It is a great place to live because you are close to many attractions without all the East Cobb traffic. The area has plenty of trees as well; even though we live in an urban environment it still feels a bit like the country!
