As our youngest daughter was approaching high school graduation, my husband, Dan, and I started making plans for the next "chapter" in our lives. We raised our two children in a West Cobb subdivision that provided us with great schools, a safe community, and life-long friendships. But with Cassidy going off to college we decided it was time to simplify our lives (we call it "Quarterly Retired").
Since my real estate office is on the Marietta Square we decided that we should move closer to the Square. Plus, we loved the idea of being able to walk to restaurants, shops and the Farmer's Market.
One Sunday morning, as we were driving around looking at houses, we stumbled upon a lot for sale. The next thing I knew we were meeting with an architect, interviewing builders, and figuring out financing for new construction. It took almost two years - start to finish - but the wait was worth it. I've posted some pictures if you are looking for inspiration.
Many people share with me that they dread the idea of custom building. I found the experience quite enjoyable and worthwhile. I learned a lot during the process and I am willing to share my experience and knowledge with anyone who is interested.
