The home for sale at 460 Hyde Drive, in Marietta, Georgia, offers a unique opportunity to live in Historic Marietta with a foot in the future.

We wondered what it is like to live in such a wonderful home. Who better to tell us than the sellers; here is what they had to say:

The large, corner lot is centered around mature, historical hardwood trees and features several sitting areas. A path from the front sidewalk leads to the front steps while a driveway on the side of the home leads to a single car, detached garage and a private oasis. Vibrant landscaping, a privacy fence, a relaxing water feature and a spacious deck are some of the things we most enjoy about this private area on a year-round basis.

While located in a rich historical area, this move-in ready home features modern, easy to maintain vinyl siding, new vinyl windows and a new roof. The back deck was also recently repainted.

We have taken care of all the necessary updates associated with owning a historical home.  Recent mechanical upgrades including a new Trane air conditioning and heating unit, new PVC plumbing throughout, new PVC sewer and water lines and a newer water heater. We have also installed extra insulation and professionally waterproofed the crawl space area.

We worked hard to create a modern living space while preserving the home’s historical charm. A few of the ways we achieved this is through refurbishing the original hardwood flooring to its natural beauty, restoring the trim and molding, repainting the wood paneling, keeping the original bathroom tile work and fixtures, and refinishing the original fireplace in the living room.

For a historical bungalow style home, the three bedrooms are considerably oversized and spacious. We installed engineered space saving closet systems to optimize storage space. The original hall bath features beautiful tile work and extensive trim. We added a master bath to include a double sink vanity and a Jacuzzi tub.

The renovated kitchen is one of our favorite rooms in the home. Featuring beautiful stained cabinetry, plenty of granite counter space, custom tile flooring, and stainless steel appliances, you would be hard pressed to find another kitchen of this size and quality in the historical area.

Exciting times are upon the historical Cherokee Heights neighborhood! Undergoing an extensive residential redevelopment, the area is surrounded by a variety of rezoning and major housing redevelopment projects. View the extensive map below for details on over nine projects underway within only 1.5 miles of the home.

We love living in Historic Marietta. The weekends offer a variety of fun and cultural activities year round. Some of our favorites include the monthly summer concert series, a weekly farmers market and monthly art walk events on Friday evenings. The Marietta Square is home to some of the finest restaurants, all within walking distance from the home’s front step. In the spring and summer months we have been known to walk over to the square to enjoy a cup of coffee or a quick ice cream cone while taking in the evening activities.

The holiday season is especially entertaining starting with ghost tours in October, the Gobble Jog on Thanksgiving Day and the festive holiday decorations and Santa on the Square in December. This year, Marietta is introducing a Winter Wonderland, complete with an outdoor ice skating rink.

In November, the Cherokee Heights community hosts a local art festival featuring a variety of local artists and musicians. For more information, visit  www.cherokeeheightsartsfestival.org.
