The home at 59 Trammell Street Marietta, GA can be found on a large, beautiful lot surrounded by a white picket fence in the heart of the Marietta historic district.  This home is filled with beautiful updates and old world charm combined.  We wondered what it is like to live in such a wonderful home. Who better to tell us than the sellers, here is what they had to say:

YARD

The great thing about this property is that it is a double lot! The front half where the home lies is on Trammell Street, and the back half is on Reynolds. If you really wanted to, you could build a driveway off Reynolds that would lead to the back of the home. The back yard is completely fenced in and the front yard has a cute white picket fence. This lot also features mature pecan trees.  Once the pecans are ready to be harvested, they are just waiting to be put into a pie!



EXTERIOR FEATURES 

The side of the home is vinyl, which means that it is very low maintenance and easy to take care of. The painted chimney is a classic touch and adds to the charm of the home. The back deck is also a great size and would easily fit a grill for cooking delicious summer meals! At the back of the driveway there is a shed that I use to store extra items that I don’t need in the house.

MECHANICAL 

I had a brand new furnace installed in March 2016. It has only been used a few times since! A new HVAC unit was installed in May 2013, and the home also features low flow toilets in both bathrooms. The toilets were installed in 2009 and 2011. In 2009, I also had an electric water heater installed. This home has been updated in multiple ways during the many years that I have lived here!

INTERIOR

All of the rooms in the home have been recently painted! There is a great family/sitting room at the front of the home for relaxing or conversing with friends when they come over. The secondary bedroom of the home is a great size. The hallway (or guest) bathroom has marble tile floors that surround the combined tub/shower, pedestal sink, and glass block window. There is a linen closet in this bathroom that is very roomy and has a great amount of space for storage!



KITCHEN

The kitchen has been remodeled extensively during my time in the home. It has a bunch of upgrades! Some of the amazing cabinets and drawers in the kitchen include a pull out spice cabinets, sheet pan/cutting board cabinet, pull out cabinet for pots and pans, two deep cabinets for large items, a double stacked utensil drawer, pull out shelves in the pantry, and pull out shelves above the fridge. All of these have been great space savers and very convenient!

The kitchen also has an aged copper farm sink, and a Bosch dishwasher with a cabinet front. The dishwasher operates very quietly, so you have to check to see if the light is shining on the floor to know that it is on. The stove range is gas and stainless steel, and five can lights are located throughout the kitchen to provided lighting! There is also lighting under the cabinets to additionally light the counter space, and lighting in the glass-paned cabinet! The countertops are granite, and the bar top is made of marble and has room for two to three barstools. The fixtures in the kitchen are all oil rubbed bronze fixtures. A ton of work has gone into this beautiful kitchen.  I can’t wait for someone to fall in love with it like I have!



MASTER

The master bedroom is very spacious for this bungalow style home. In 2009, I added a huge master bath with a double vanity that houses multiple drawers and has a beautiful marble counter. The spacious shower is frameless and has built in shelving, and two faux stained glass windows that were custom designed adorn the wall space above the claw foot tub. The windows and fixtures provide plenty of light for this space and it is well lit at any time of day, whether naturally or electronically. In addition, the travertine tiles on the floor are also on the wall by the tub and shower up to chest level. They are a great touch to the bathroom space! Lastly, the bathroom also has a large closet for storing clothes, shoes, and more!



THE NEIGHBORHOOD

It is so easy to walk 10 minutes to get to Marietta Square for festivals, the Taste of Marietta, and concerts that happen in the square from April through September. There are also plenty of restaurants for great dining and stores for shopping! I have even been able to view fireworks from my street in the past! All you have to do on the Fourth of July is walk two houses down and set up some lawn chairs. Meanwhile, you can be entertaining guests in your home until the display starts and, when it does, the view can’t be beat! The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet, and historic with a lot of charm and personality. Every home is different, and it’s wonderful to talk a walk after dinner because the view never gets old.

THE AREA

We are also very close to I-75, downtown Smyrna, and Kennesaw. All the amenities you need are very close! In terms of restaurants, it’s hard to pick favorites because there are so many great places to eat! The Local is great on the weekend for breakfast, and it’s always fun to people watch in the square. Both Cool Beans and Starbucks are located in the square, which is just a 10-minute walk. La Parilla, a Mexican restaurant, is right down the street as well. Also, the CVS is about 8 houses away if you need to pick up something really fast.

In terms of other activities, we love hiking Kennesaw Mountain, which is a quick drive away. There is also a wonderful park a street down, where plenty of neighborhood kids play on the jungle gym and swing set. I love this area!
